Sincere Apologies!
Especially to Samuel, Henry Thomas, Bill Hensley, Winston Cutajar et al
and all my friends on the Lotteryfun Forum who have been so helpful
This Website was not edited for a long time after 26th May
when I was hit by the Chernobyl Virus.
They say it's an old and harmless virus -
Don't believe it!
It wiped out my Hard Drive and
I lost most of my files. (Memo, back up, you fool!)
Please bear with us as the site gradually resumes normal function.
Thanks for your patience!
If you are looking for help with choosing your selections, or just share Dr Anselm’s fascination for numbers and trivia, then read on!
Dr Anselm believes the Bonus Ball to be an irrelevant
hindrance,
so few statistics will be quoted for it.
These pages are devoted to the workings of the UK National Lottery
Draw called Lotto and do not cover "Thunderball" or "Instants."
Nor do they cover the "Lottery Extra" game - or the new Hotpicks.
Anselm is still evaluating Hotpicks, and still sits on the fence.

Is the National Lottery in terminal decline?
Are the latest attempts to resuscitate it just self-inflicted
wounds? Can ANYTHING be done?

WINNING NUMBERS FOR LAST LOTTO DRAW
Draw No.808
Saturday 20th September 2003
01
02
15
23
31
48
(The colour for each lottery number above is relevant.
See Anselm's Method )
Bonus Ball was 49
There was/were NO lucky Lotto Jackpot winner(s)
So Wednesday's draw will be a Rollover.
Four Correct Numbers today pays £ 62 this time.
That's about average.
In Draw 720 strange pattern occurred. High payout for 4 numbers suggests
they were an unusual distribution, so would expect few
Jackpot winners - yet there were 3. Were they all Lucky Dips?
For Draw 721. More what is expected. Three numbers
over 31, no winners.
What, no Lucky Dips? Ask Camelot!
See Tips Page)
Some of you have expressed surprise that there can be as many
as 18 Anselm Numbers. But the quantity depends on the split each time.
In the next draw there are 18 Anselm Numbers.
(See Number-Crunching )

Some Musings:
The great underperformers remain 13 and 21, two favourite numbers for punters!
(Proof - numbers 07, 14, and 21 featured in Lottery #660, and
there were a high number of Jackpot winners - 12.)
Lots of Pairs and Triples recently.
Despite what other pundits say,
it is not at all uncommon for a number to figure in consecutive draws,
but when it does, it USUALLY does not occupy the same position in the
sequence (eg number 42 figured in both draws nos 716 and 717, but was
the second highest in 716, and the highest in 717)
A good guide to how "popular" numbers are is to see how much is
paid out for 4 correct numbers - so Anselm now includes this info
on the Results page Groupings:
STOP PRESS:
Draw # 704 showed the VAST popularity of lower numbers.
All six numbers were under 31
(the cut off point for birth dates)
and there were ELEVEN jackpot winners (huge)
while 4 correct paid only £28, the lowest for some time.
(Lowest ever payment for 4 correct was £16 in Jan 1995
in the second Rollover draw, when there were 133 Jackpot winners!
- thanks Jonpe!)
In general the Higher numbers are now dominating again.
especially old favourite Group V(33-40) which is
storming back from ignominy.
Group III(17-24) is also doing well.
Pairs are doing very well overall,
but not recently. Due a comeback with two pairs, or a triple?
0:6 split as regards Odds and Evens, came up recently.
