Late at night, Detectives Terry Murnane, Louis Savarese and Tommy Marr are called to a grocery store in the 75th Precinct, where two employees have been brutally — and fatally — shot in a botched robbery. Anonymous tips point to a local gang of crack dealers and stick-up men, "The Crime Family." The motive for the robbery was to get cash for a "Crime Family" outing to a local amusement park. Detectives focus on two gang members, Brucie and Scar. Brucie is picked up in Syracuse, N.Y. Scar is found in Brooklyn but holding his pregnant girlfriend and two small children hostage at gunpoint. After a tense two hours on the phone with Det. Murnane, Scar surrenders. The "Brooklyn Strangler" investigation continues with a call to a crime scene. Fearing that the killer has struck again, detectives race out to examine the half-naked body of a crack-addicted woman discovered in an abandoned building.
