'''Mark Doyon''' (born October 4, 1962 in Washington, D.C.) is a writer, musician and producer. He has written and produced nine alternative-pop albums, including Arms_of_Kismet's debut, ''Eponymous'', in 2004, and its follow-up, ''Cutting Room Rug'', in 2005. Both were mastered by Jon_Astley, a producer for Pete_Townshend, George_Harrison and Tori_Amos. Arms of Kismet blends influences and styles ranging from British rock, country and psychedelia to punk and folk music. Jason Warburg of ''The Daily Vault'' called Arms of Kismet "witty, idiosyncratic indie-rock that is to a band like Maroon 5 what a film like ''Sideways'' is to one like ''Miss Congeniality 2''." Arms of Kismet toured in 2004-05, and are at work on a new album. Doyon produced ''Hurry Home Early: the Songs of Warren Zevon'' (2005), ''After Hours: a Tribute to the Music of Lou Reed'' (2003), and ''If I Were a Richman: a Tribute to the Music of Jonathan Richman'' (2001). He also produced records for neo-traditionalist folk songwriters Casey Abrams, Alice Despard, and Johnny J. Blair. In 2001, he founded Wampus Multimedia, an independent record label with an international focus. He since has expanded the label, most recently starting the reissue imprint Foldback Records. Doyon published a collection of short stories, ''Bonneville Stories'', in 2001. His second book, ''Slingshot to Obscurity'', a wry comment on navigating the independent music scene, will reportedly be published in 2007. == Bibliography == ''Bonneville Stories'' (2001) ''Slingshot to Obscurity'' (2007, expected) ''Jagged Whimsy and Other Stories'' (2008, expected) == Discography == '''Wampeters''' ''Screen Test'' (1987) ''Folk Medicine'' (1989) ''Pagan's Nest'' (1990) ''Bloodline'' (1993) ''Look What's Left'' (1994) ''Hey Judas'' (1997) ''Murder Your Darlings'' (1999) '''Arms of Kismet''' ''Eponymous'' (2004) ''Cutting Room Rug'' (2005) == Selected Productions == ''If I Were a Richman: a Tribute to the Music of Jonathan Richman'' (2001) ''After Hours: a Tribute to the Music of Lou Reed'' (2003) ''Hurry Home Early: the Songs of Warren Zevon'' (2005) Casey Abrams, ''Like a Mirror'' (2005) Johnny J Blair, ''Treadmarks'' (2005) Alice Despard, ''Vessel'' (2005) == External links == *Mark Doyon official site *Arms of Kismet official site *Wampus Multimedia
