  Grand Army Plaza

The chance to design a dramatic entrance to Prospect Park lured some of the most renowned architects to Brooklyn. Frederick Law Olmsted and Calbert Vaux collaborated on the plaza's overall plan while Stanford White layed out the semi-circular entrance to the park and John H. Duncan, the architect of Grant's Tomb, crafted the 80-foot high Civil War Memorial Arch. The arch includes a relief of Lincoln by American artist Thomas Eakins.
