Welcome to McNally Robinson NYC, (est. December 2004), a big, beautiful independent bookstore in New York's Nolita, where Soho, Noho, the Lower East Side, Chinatown, and Little Italy meet (it's also a stone's throw from Tribeca, the East Village, West Village, and Wall Street....not to mention a quick subway ride from Brooklyn, a bike ride from Harlem, and a PATH fare from the great state of New Jersey). In other words, we're right in the middle of the criss-crossing currents of New York's eclectic cultural life and we're determined to capture that invigorating swirl in our mix of books, media, and events.

Pamela Des BarresPatti D’ArbanvilleAuthor of Let’s Spend the Night Together: Backstage Secrets of Rock Muses and Supergroupies (Chicago Review Press)
With Patti D’Arbanville and other Supergroupies TBA

Pamela Des Barres has been called the Queen of the Groupies; she paired up with everyone from Jim Morrison to Mick Jagger to Frank Zappa, led the first Groupie Supergroup (the cult favorite band The GTOs), and wrote all about it in her first book I’m With The Band. Now Miss Pamela has gathered her fellow former rock muses, both famous and infamous, for Let’s Spend The Night Together, a collection of stories and interviews that sets out to prove that the girls behind the scenes were a vital part of making the music happen. She will be joined by Warhol protege Patti D’Arbanville, who is featured in the book, and other special guests. Join us for a book event with the inimitable Miss Pamela and her cohorts, get their autographs and ask the questions you’ve always wondered about.

by Alice Walker
(Simon & Schuster, $14.00)

Alice Walker’s most divine work. It is the sort of narrative that demands a
certain frame of mind, however, one willing to go to the depths of myth,
fantasy, and reincarnation–each realm enchanting and pertinent. Walker
forms a clever revisionist history of human- and animal-kind through this
sensual and transformative masterpiece..
