Gothic 4 heading to PC and console

JoWood confirms fourth game in the RPG series
In a very brief announcement JoWood has confirmed that Gothic 4 is planned, with the sequel heading to console in addition to the RPG series' traditional PC stomping ground.

And that's pretty much all the information we have at this stage, other than that the publisher has revealed that it's "not come to terms regarding the development of Gothic 4" with Pluto 13 (parent of Gothic dev Piranha Bytes) and that the collaboration with the company has come to an end.

The Gothic RPG series is full-on fantasy affair with the last game, number three, being well recieved. You can read a review right here.

As long as they leave the bugs out of this version thats ok.

It's never nice to hear that a devloper has had its own universe pulled from it by a publisher. Brings back flashbacks of Interplay. Also this looks like the uber patch for Gothic 3 has fallen by the way side with this split.

All round doesn't sound like the best news from the customers point of view.

I loved the first gothic, but sadly never continued with 2 and 3. Which is a shame, considering how well Oblivion sold with its leveling up the world because you had forty winks, when gothic had the edge because you wouldn`t dare visit certain areas at lower levels for fear of getting your arm pulled/chewed off. And don`t get your sword out in the city; every guard was on your back, giving you seconds to sheath that bad boy. Hope the new one sticks to this formula and doesn`t go the Oblivion route.

Humorguy-"Console version and new developer, going from Morrowind to Oblivion again are we - dumb dumb and dumber... "

hey hey hey..... fantasy Rpgs are the best in the fact that there is more honor in a sword than magic and a gun. I liked gothic the same way Rain1971 did. it was Highly cool in the fact that you couldnt just run around without worrying about getting your ass killed. you KNEW to stay out of the damn forest, or you KNEW to run, and you KNEW to keep you sword in its sheathe, because you were not invincible. hopefully they will keep that system and 2 more things...

1. create your own character. this should be a requirement. F*ck being han solo. be your own guy, like bioware's rpgs.

2. LAN/SPLITSCREEN. ok, splitscreen is hard, but I was playing that alien game from Pandemic (part 2) and so long as you dont stray too far, you could effectively play the whole game together. who loved Gauntlet?(the good ones, not the last one) those games proved that questing together was always fun. 2 worlds, I fear, are trying to go online-only. tats fine, I guess, but I like playing with my own peeps sometimes.... not finding eachother on live. as fun as it may be, that is....
