A Message From the President

"Congratulations. There will be only a few times in your life when you can stop and savor your accomplishments, and this is one of those times. Enjoy it to the fullest. Your years of hard work and sacrifice have paid off as you are now a Queens College graduate.

New York Times Best-Selling Author to Speak

Award-winning novelist, essayist, screenwriter, political columnist and book reviewer, Susan Isaacs, will be delivering the commencement address come May 31. Isaacs, a Queens College class of 1965 English major who wrote for The Phoenix (now known as The Knight News), worked her way up to become a senior editor at Seventeen magazine in the late '60s until leaving to stay home with her newborn son.

QC Benefactor Kupferberg to Receive Honorary Degree

One of the most generous alumni of Queens College, Max Kupferberg, will be receiving the 79th Honorary Degree. Kupferberg, 87, was a student the day the college first opened its doors and graduated QC with a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1942. In 1981 he was named QC Alumnus of the Year, and he and Selma, his wife, were named Persons of the Year by the Queens Tribune last year.

And this Year's Student Speakers Are:

Chikodi Emerenini will be speaking at commencement May 31. She came to the United States in 1998. She is a firm believer that "what we do in life resonates in eternity." She is an honors graduate of Francis Lewis High School, a member of the Macaulay Honors College's class of 2007, and a member of the Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.

Preparations for the 20th Commencement From the Executive Director of Events

The 83rd commencement of Queens College will take place on the Quad on Thursday, May 31. Our first commencement was in 1941. In the early years, commencement was held twice a year - that it why this is the 83rd. Graduates from September 2006 and February 2007 and candidates for graduation from May and September 2007 will participate in this year's ceremony.
