Seasoned Women Applaud Recognition From PARADE

Dear PARADE:
What a wonderful article Gail Sheehy wrote about “The New Seasoned Woman.” That woman is me, my mother and my dear friends. Thank her for redefining what we dared not. Thank her for empowering us to look beyond what once was.

Dear PARADE:
I read with enthusiasm the article about “baby-boomer” women entering a new stage of life and I made this wonderful realization: I am doing things I enjoy. Like going back to college after 22 years (and two degrees) and working with preschool children again. I am happier now than I’ve been in a long time. I have an extremely supportive husband who lets me follow my dreams, and because of him I have the financial means to follow these dreams. It’s nice to read why I’m doing what I’m doing. I just know I feel more fulfilled with my life in every way because of it! I am truly blessed at this time of my life. I will be 50 in two months and I’m loving it!

Spotlight On Race Walking Well Deserved

Dear PARADE:
Thank you for printing Padric Gleason’s story (“Fresh Voices: Why I Am a Race Walker”). I too am a competitive race walker, although not as high up as Padric. It’s very rare that the youth of America are taught about race walking. It’s not included in most schools’ track and field curriculum. If we had more access to educate young athletes about race walking, Padric would have some company up on that Olympic podium.

Best & Worst Issue Is A Hit

Dear PARADE:
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the “The Best & Worst of Everything” issue on December 18. It was wonderful, as it is every year. I love the quirky little stories that I don’t otherwise hear about, like the “Worst Dressed” “Worst Billboard” and “Best Delivery” items.
