Mods

For how to install and play mods, visit my FAQ. Here are some of the best places to look for new mods and maps:

Mods that have been released

Let's get down to it: the most popular mod by far is Desert Combat - U.S. vs. Iraq, with jets and other fun stuff. 1200 servers can't all be wrong. Another popular mod (though nowhere near as popular as DC) is Eve of Destruction - Vietnam war. Everything else, you might find a few active servers if you're lucky. That said, try the All-Seeing Eye and use its filters to see what's popular this week. (Interstate '82, Forgotten Hope, and Silent Heroes had some action last I looked.)

Mod tools

EA's official Mod Development Tools is the place to start. BattleCraft 42 is the official tool for making new maps. See Planet Battlefield's mod tool listing for a comprehensive list. Another excellent place for links to tools and tutorials is at lobo's site. My own modding resources are in the MDT; one useful link that is broken on the MDT is the scripting tutorials page. For information on making mods, one of the best places to start is BF42.com's editing forum. There is also a modding FAQ at BF1942UK; also check out the CEBF forum.
