NEW YORK

(CBS) Susan Roberts has been a Washington-based correspondent for CBS Newspath, the affiliate news service of CBS News, since July 2004.

Roberts has covered many major news stories including the three major hurricanes to hit the states: Katrina, Rita and Wilma. She spent more than six weeks reporting from New Orleans and has filed numerous reports on the rebuilding process in New Orleans. Other notable stories include the Amish shootings, the Sago Mine disaster, the Michael Jackson Trial and 10th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing.

Before joining CBS News, Roberts served as a reporter for the Washington bureau of NBC News Channel, MSNBC and NBC News’ "Early Today" (March-June 2004). Prior to that, she covered the Sept. 11 attacks on the Pentagon and the sniper shootings for WJLA-TV/Washington, D.C., where she served as an anchor and a reporter (2000-03). While at WJLA, she reported on the start of the Iraq War from the Mediterranean Sea aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt.

Roberts was a news anchor and reporter for WDSU-TV/New Orleans (1997- 2000), for WWL-TV, the CBS affiliate in New Orleans (1995-97), and for KATV-TV/ Little Rock (1991-94).

Her reporting on the Sept. 11 attacks contributed to a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for WJLA-TV. Roberts has also received two Emmy nominations for spot news and feature news reporting.

Roberts was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport, La. with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Spanish. She completed part of her undergraduate studies at St. John’s College in Oxford, England.
