Bungie has released the first Halo 3 update of 2007, detailing the 360 sequel's speedy new vehicle the M274 ULATV, or "Mongoose".
"The M274 Ultra-light All-terrain Vehicle provides an alternate means of transporting messages, documents, and light cargo between units," the update reads. "It may also be used to transport forward observers, reconnaissance personnel and sniper teams."
"Despite its size and limited offensive capabilities, the Mongoose is instrumental in many quick-striking strategies. It is decidedly difficult to damage in battle because of its speed and maneuverability delivered by its forgiving suspension and E-brake. Coupled with its speed, the capability to power-slide through turns gives the Mongoose unparalleled maneuverability on the battlefield."

The update also reveals more details on how the Mongoose will control - and specifically what the downsides of the vehicle will be. As well as making the obvious note that the vehicle-destroying Spartan Laser will tear through it like nobody's business, Bungie also reveals that the Mongoose is "prone to roll-over" and might slow down on snow-covered ice.
