James Bond: Casino Royale 2006

Casino Royale 2006I've just watched CNN's report on the brand new Casino Royale (old version released on 1967). Hala Gorani, CNN's anchor, makes some interviews with key figures of the film including the new 007 star Daniel Craig, the film director Martin Campbell and some film analyst. Many controversies in the run-up of the making process of this film especially on the rationale of picking Daniel Craig as the actor.

For those who have been the zealot followers of James Bond movies with all its images the film (and the novel from which it emanate), the director's pick of actor Daniel Craig is questionable. Craig is, frankly speaking, not an attractive looking guy to be able to attract a woman attention in the first sight; nor has he got a flamboyant, elegant and/or cool look as his most predecessors have that successfully drives many women fans around the world. I've never read any survey on how many percent of James Bond fans from the gender perspective; but I dare to say, most of them are women.

And if it's true, the new James Bond's Casino Royale will lost its most fanatic fans.

Despite having received many appreciations-- dubbed as one of the best James Bond 007 movies ever--there are sceptical voices on whether it could make it a box office. Just to refresh your memory, the Pierce Brosnan's Die Another Day gained USD 500 million. Afterall, film-making is about making money. Daniel Craig might have licence to kill and to act marvellously in the film. But, wheter he has the licence to sell remains to be seen.

To any fanatic fan of James Bond, especially woman, are you going to watch Daniel Craig, I mean, James Bond's Casino Royale 2006?
