Mountain Drive
His native Swiss mountains are the perfect testing ground for Florian Schlumpf 's Mountain-Drive, a gearbox at the bottom bracket which, at the tap of a button, drops you from direct drive into a wall-climbing 2.5 times reduction - the equivalent of swapping from a 46 to a 19 tooth chainring. This massive leap in gearing is achieved simply by tapping the button in the centre of the crank with your heel while pedalling. Any standard chainring can be fitted to fine-tune the ratios.

The Mountain Drive II is designed for the opposite end of the gear spectrum, providing conventional drive and an overdrive of 1:1.65, making it ideal for small-wheeled bikes, recumbents, or downhill machines that need big gears without oversize chainrings.

Florian now uses the stronger and better-shifting 'Triangolo' technology throughout the range. All units are sealed, keeping lubricant in and dirt out, and a recent development is a new 'Labyrinth' seal for the Type 1, which provides even better protection.
