Leggero Classico
Leggero Classico
Solid aluminium walls make a reassuringly stable base for the Leggero Classico. Two children up to five years old (weighing up to 50kg) are a respectable load by any standard, and a rigid trailer chassis is a must for safe, predictable handling. The children inside are held gently but firmly in place with a three-point harness designed to fit all sizes. There's plenty of room for two full-size toddlers: at shoulder-height, the passenger compartment measures 60cm across. When the children do outgrow the Leggero, or if you just manage to escape for a few days, the Leggero converts to a fine camping trailer, with a neat canvas enclosure for your belongings. It can be ordered initially in this touring guise, or as a conversion kit for the child trailer. Both versions use the 'Becco' coupling: a light yet secure device which leaves a minimum of clutter on the bike when you're not towing the trailer.

If you've dropped the children off at school, you might choose to do some shopping. Once again, the Classico shows its versatility. In seconds the seat can be folded away against the back wall of the trailer, leaving a huge load area free. If, instead, you need to travel by public transport, the Leggero packs down small: the sides fold inwards, with wheels and other parts neatly tucked away in the base. Stainless steel mudguards and a tow-handle are available as options. There's also a polypropylene roof, which offers extra stiffness and roll-over protection.
