Filibus
It's astonishing what you can carry on a bicycle, and it's also amazing how much easier and safer the process can be when you use a machine that's been designed for the job. When it comes to carrying children, the extra reassurance of a special-purpose load-carrier can be especially valuable. Two children travel in comfort on the Filibus, but this is a vehicle that can do much more than just child-carrying.

The Filibus is a true multi-function machine, with payloads of 50kg on the front and 25kg on the rear carrier. Magura hydraulics are usually fitted at the front, and a back-pedal brake at the rear. The ultra-solid stand not only eases loading and unloading, but also provides a neat pivot for quick 180° turns. The wheels are 20" (406) front and 26" (559) rear, the frame size is 53cm, and the gearing involves a Sachs Pentasport 5-speed hub. Options include aluminium load-boxes, custom colours and a second hydraulic brake, or a V-brake. A front child-seat can be mounted on a suspended sub-frame, with the child facing you for good eye contact, or facing for ward to see the world.

The Lorri is the Filibus's little brother. Shorter, and lighter, the 15.5kg Lorri is still a very capable load-carrier. It has strong 20" wheels front and back, V-brakes, and proven Sachs hub gearing. Both Lorri and Filibus use large-section tubing to achieve lightweight frames strong enough for everyday, robust use.

The Classic Pedersen takes another approach, employing the principle of triangulation devised by Mikael Pedersen before the turn of the century. Kemper's incarnation of the Pedersen design aims for maximum performance through lightweight, precise construction, while remaining true to the spirit of the original. Each frame is made to measure: customers have ranged from 1.5m to over 2m in height. The customer has complete choice over every detail of the frame construction - from custom braze-ons to initials engraved on the steerer tube.
