KMFDM, Combichrist
Emo's,
Thursday, Oct 19
The first-ever co-production of Elysium and Emos (more please!) brings Euro-industrial disco fiends KMFDM to Sixth and Red River. Debuting at a Parisian art opening in 1984, Keine Mitleid fur die Mehrheit (no pity for the majority) defined the sleaze-ridden sound of Wax Trax! Records as much as Front 242 or Front Line Assembly. Recent remix album Ruck Zuck (Metropolis) casts founder Sascha Konietzko as both raging nihilist (Free Your Hate, Ready to Blow) and improbably suave lounge lizard (Mini Mini Mini). Norways Combichrist and locals Snow Black grind first. – Christopher Gray

Dwight Yoakam
Stubb's Bar-B-Q,
Thursday, Oct 19
Rhino just reissued Dwight Yoakam's 1986 debut, Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., adding a smokin' live disc recorded at L.A.'s fabled Roxy that same year. The title track and "Honky Tonk Man" have deservedly ripened into standards, but don't forget terrific romp "Bury Me," lovely "Miner's Prayer," or a "Heartaches by the Number" that ranks up with Ray Price's. Yoakam can also be seen on DVD as a "ruthless Texas banker" in this year's Bandidas, starring Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz. Former Yoakam collaborator Keith Gattis opens. – Christopher Gray

Thursday, Oct 19
While headliners Dem Franchize Boyz still manage to sneak in the mix by way of 2004s White Tees and 2005s Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It, its the Meltdown 2006 undercard thats been keeping Hot 93.3 deejays busy the past month or so. Chamillionaires Grown and Sexy, Shareefas Need a Boss, Wine-Os Pop My Trunk, Chingo Blings Do the Lasso, Baby Boys The Way I Live, and Brown Boys Superman each pack the potential to grab Austin Music Hall by the biscuits. – Robert Gabriel
