The religious movement profiles that follow were developed with the assistance of
students enrolled in my sociology of religion classes at the University of
Virginia. Each student who has created a religious movement profile for this site has
made a unique and valuable contribution. I sincerely extend my gratitude to them
for their conscientious work. The name of the student who created each page appears
at the end of that page. If they are still a student at the University, you can communicate
with them directly by clicking on their name.
Each profile consists of a minimum of three sections: (1) a profile providing basic
information to help orient the reader to the group, (2) links to web sites containing
further useful information, and a (3) bibliography of print resources. Many of the pages
go well beyond their minimum criteria. Groups are listed alphabetically. If a group is
known by multiple names, it will have multiple listings for your convenience in locating. Comments and suggestions for improving the content of individual pages are welcome. You can send a
message by visiting our feedback page or you can email
me by clicking on my name below.
