V for Vendetta, based on a British graphic novel from the
1980s, releases to DVD this week. In a futuristic totalitarian Britain, a
young woman is rescued by a mysterious, yet charming, freedom fighter. She
must decide whether to help him carry out his most daring strike or to
escape and foil his plans. Also new on DVD today: The Shaggy Dog, Roving Mars, and a Collectors Edition of A Fish Called Wanda.

In Steve Taylor's movie The Second Chance, Michael W. Smith plays a white, affluent megachurch pastor who finds himself working side-by-side with a black, street-smart inner-city pastor. Though they worship the same God, the two men express their faith very differently, forcing them to confront their own prejudices about faith, race, and community. Also new on DVD: ATL, She's the Man, and Tsotsi.

It's another really slow week for new DVDs. Ironic that a 1942 film about pirates hits the small screen the week after another certain pirate movie opens in theaters, huh? In The Black Swan, pirate-turned-loyal-subject James Waring is sent to dispense of his former captain's arch-nemesis. Also new on DVD today: The Keys of the Kingdom, Grand Prix, and Chaplin Mutual Comedies.

It's hard to go wrong when dogsreal ones, not CGI onesare the stars of the movie, and in Eight Below, an octet of handsome huskies, playing sled dogs trapped in an Antarctica storm, steal this show. Meanwhile, several films from the Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection are releasing to single-purchase DVD, including two of our favorites1948's Rope and 1955's The Trouble with Harry.
