The Elms announced on their website that they have signed with Universal South, and will begin recording their new CD this week with the help of acclaimed producer David Bianco (Tom Petty, Rage Against The Machine, Black Crowes). They will document the creative process via postings, photos, and sounds through their My Space webpage. The album should release in early '06.
The See Spot Rock Tour is back, and this year's lineup is similar to past tours. Slated to appear are three-time tour veterans Pillar, plus Falling Up, Day of Fire, Stellar Kart, and The Wedding. The tour runs November 4-December 17, hitting 20 cities across North America.
The first single off Kirk Franklin's new album, Hero, is the danceable old-school jam "Looking for You," now playing exclusively at Franklin's official website. Visitors can also pre-order the new album as well as view "Constructing Hero," behind-the-scenes videos which chronicle the making of the album, due October 4.
L.A. Symphony makes its comeback October 4 with Disappear Here, the follow-up to the quintet's 2003 Gotee release, The End Is Now. Produced largely by L.A. Symphony, the 15-song project features guest appearances from the legendary Madlib (Stone's Throw), Evidence (Dialated Peoples), Great Jasn (J-beits), Sup the Chemist, and DJ Rhetmattic.
Clay Crosse is back
sort of. After a long hiatus, the blue-eyed soul crooner is ready for the September 15 release of a live worship album and DVD, Eternity with You: Live Worship. The project coincides with the release of Crosse's confessional new book I Surrender All: Rebuilding a Marriage Broken by Pornography, co-written with his wife Renee.
EMI Gospel recording artist Darwin Hobbs is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated fourth solo album, Worshipper, due September 27. Hobbs's first praise and worship album includes covers of Richard Smallwood's "I Give You Praise," Chris Tomlin's "Forever," Thomas Whitfield's "Precious Jesus," and Twila Paris' "He Is Exalted." The album was produced by Israel Houghton, Aaron Lindsey, Tommy Sims, and Fred Jerkins, among others.
