House Plans

Mom, have you ever thought of comparing your life to a house?

Tricia Goyer, author of Life Interrupted: The Scoop on Being a Young Mom, tells us that "Wizard of Oz star Judy Garland once said: 'Always be a first rate version of yourself, rather than a second rate version of somebody else.'

"Thinking about God's purpose reminds me of the house plans I once drew in my high school drafting class," continues Tricia. "I sketched a design for an amazing, three-story house, with large pillars out front, and drew each room in great detail.

"Now, instead of sketching a dream house, imagine your dream life. Think about each 'room.' Perhaps your 'kitchen' is filled with those whom you enjoy spending time with. Your 'family room' can hold your most comfortable things. In your 'living room' put what makes you feel at ease, at rest. How about your 'office?' What sparks your creativity and industriousness? What lights a fire under you and makes you want to accomplish big things?

"For thousands of years, people from around the world have been asking about the meaning of life. And the meaning of their personal lives. The Bible tells us 'It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we're living for.' Don't tuck away the blueprint of your life in a dusty drawer. Living up to your potential is a gift - to yourself, to your family, and to the One who created you."

In the nurture and support of local MOPS groups, mothers in all kinds of life situations are being introduced to Jesus Christ and discovering their God-given potential.  For information on offering a MOPS group at your church, visit www.MOPS.org.
