Former Creed frontman Scott Stapp recently announced his engagement to a former Miss New York USA; a Feb. 10 wedding is planned. It's just the latest in the roller coaster of good news/bad news for Stapp, who identifies himself as a Christian. In a recent Rolling Stone article, Stapp reveals that he got drunk while recording a song for a compilation inspired by The Passion of The Christ. The article details Stapp's rocky road, including a near suicide attempt, his drinking problems, and bickering within Creed, which broke up in 2004. Former Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti says Stapp was a "cancer" to the band and the reason Creed was "the laughingstock of the entire industry." Stapp, now "sober, friendly, and humble," says he asks for forgiveness from "everyone from Creed who I've offended or hurt." He will launch a tour this spring, and a "sobriety coach" will travel with him.
Want some Switchfootage? Switchfoot has put together a live video montage from their fall tour, featuring the song "We Are One Tonight." The band's newsletter said the video "is simply a video to thank everyone who came to the shows
. I'm sure a lot of you will even see yourselves somewhere amidst the chaos." Also, catch the band January 24 on Last Call with Carson Daly.
The official newsboys website reports that guitarist Bryan Olesen is leaving the group to focus on his band Casting Pearls. Olesen described his few years with newsboys as "an amazing gift
. I have cherished every second and every show, but I am ultimately excited about what is in-store for Casting Pearls," which is rapidly growing in popularity.
