Succeeded on the deposition of his cousin, 29th May 1807. Girded with the sword at the Great Mosque of Eyüb. Deposed in favour of his younger half-brother, 28th July1808. m. (firstly) Savk-i-Nur Bash Kadin Effendi (b. 1784; d. 1812). m. (secondly) m. Dilpazir Kadin Effendi (b. 1784; d. 1809). m. (thirdly) Sayara Kadin Effendi (b. 1786; d. 1817). m. (fourthly) Paik-i-Dil Kadin Effendi (k. o the orders of Sultan Mahmud II, 29th July 1808). He was k. at the Topkapi Palace, Constantinople, 16th November 1808 (bur. there), having had issue a posthumous son and daughter:

(sixth) Abr-i-Raftar Kadin Effendi (d. 1825). m. (seventh) Zarnigar Kadin Effendi (d. 1832), 4th Iqbal from 23rd May 1826, later promoted to 7th Kadin Effendi, and 2nd Kadin Effendi. m. Bazm-i-Alam Valida Sultana (b. 1807; d. at the Dolma Bahche Palace, Constantinople, 2nd May 1853), a Georgia lady, styled 3rd Kadin Effendi from 1822, 2nd Kadin Effendi from 1832, and Valida Sultana from 1st July 1839. m. (sixteenth) Labriz Falak Khanum Effendi (b. 1810; d. 9th February 1865), previously styled 4th Iqbal. m. (seventeenth) 1826, Tiryal Khanum Effendi (b. 1810; d. 1883), previously styled 3rd Iqbal. m. Partav-Nihal, the Valida Sultana (b. 1812; d. at the Dolma Bahche Palace, Constantinople, 5th February 1883), rcvd: the Nishan-i-Osmani, a Circassian, previously styled 2nd Iqbal, 5th Kadin Effendi and Valida Sultana from 25th June 1861 to 30th May 1876, sister of H.H. Khushiar Khanum Effendimiz, the Valida Pasha and mother of H.H. Ismail Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, etc. GCB, GCSI. (f) Gul-Kamal. m. (n) Parastav (b. April 1803; d. 16th February 1866). He was k. at the Palace of Asma Sultana, Chamlija, 1st July 1839 (bur. at the Mausoleum of Sultan Mahmud, Divanyulu), having had issue, twenty two sons and twenty one daughters:
