Deposed as temporal Sultan by the Turkish Nationalist Assembly at Ankara, 1st November 1922 and went into exile at San Remo, 18th November 1922. Rcvd: Knt. Order of the Black Eagle of Prussia, GC of the Orders of St Stephen of Hungary (1917), and the Crown of Wurtemburg (1918), and the Order of the Taj-i-Iran of Persia (1.9.1919). (second) at the Chengelkoy Palace, Bosphorus, 8th July 1905 (div. 17th November 1909), H.H. Inshira Khanum Effendi (b. at Batum, 10th July 1887; d. at Cairo, 10th June 1930). m.
