Materials:
2 oz. Worsted weight acrylic main color
2 oz. Worsted weight acrylic contrast color
1 size G crochet hook
1 doll face (Fiber Craft #4228-99) 4 º inches
1 shank button
pom-pon maker
(optional) Mini quick curls (hair)-Fiber craft
(optional) Small amount of Fiber Fill

Directions:
HAT:
With main color ch 8, join to make circle.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 16 sc in circle. Join with sl st to
first sc. (16 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc on all rnds), *2 dc in
next st, 1 dc in next st*. Repeat * to * around to last
st, 2 dc in last st. Join to top of ch 3. (24 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 4, (counts as tr), *2 tr in next st, 1
tr in next st*. Repeat * to * around to last st, 2 tr in
last St. Join in top of beg ch 4. (36 tr)
Rnd 4: Work this row in back loop only. (Front
loop will be used later) Ch 4, (this counts as a dc, ch
1). *Dc in next st, ch 1* . Repeat from * to * around.
Join in 3rd chain of beg ch 4. (36 dc, 36 ch 1)
HAT EDGING:
Ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 3, sc in same st, sk ch 1 sp, sc
in next dc*. Repeat * to * around to last dc, sc in last
dc, ch 3, sc in same st. Join with sl st to beg ch 1.
Finish off. (36 ch 3 loops) (If you like, you can use the
contrast color to make this row)
PETALS:
Turn piece so wrong side is facing you. Fold hat edging
toward you. Working in unused front loops of rn 4, join
contrasting color with sl st to any unused loop. Ch 3, 4
dc in same loop the. Sl St in next 2 unused loops, 5 dc
in next loop*. Repeat * to * around to last 2 sts. Sl st
in these 2 sts, join to beg sl st. Finish off (12 petals)
HAT TIE:
With contrast or main color (your preference) ch 100, cut
yarn. Weave ch in and out through ch 3 spaces of ìhat
edgingî rnd. Pull strings lightly to ìcup hat. Place
face in center, bring ruffled edges up around face and
neck. Tighten with strings. Tie into a bow. (you can put
some fiber-fill behind the face if desired, to fill it
out).
Make 2 medium sized pom-pons according to directions
on pom-pom maker. (you can use strands of both colors to
make.) Leave a long string on each Pom-pon to attach to
each end of hat strings.
Attach 1 pom-pon to each end of chain by threading
pom-pon string through end of chain on each side of tie.
Tie securely.
Hair may be added to doll head if desired.
POTHOLDER:
With main color, ch 4, join to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 12 sc in ring, join with sl st to
first sc. (12 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st
around. Join to beg ch 3. (24 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st*.
Repeat * to * around to last st. 2 dc in last st. Join to
top of beg ch 3. (36 dc)
Rnd 4: Ch 3, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. *1
dc in next 2 st,. 2 dc in next st,*. Repeat * to *
around. Join to top of beg ch 3. (48 dc)
Rnd 5: Ch 3, working this rnd in back loops only,
dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st, *1 dc in next 3 st, 2
dc in next st* . Repeat * to * around. Join to top of beg
ch 3. Ch 10 (loop for attaching potholder to back of
head) sl st in same st as joining. Finish Off. (60 dc)
PETALS:
Rnd 6: Working in both loops, join contrast color
with a sl st in first st to left of where you joined
Loop. Ch 1, sc in same st, *5 dc in next st, sl st in
next 2 sts.* Repeat * to * around. Join to first sc
working behind hanging loop. Finish Off.
Join contrast color with sl st to any unworked st in
rnd 4. Ch 1, *sl st in next st, ch 1*. Repeat * to *
around. Join to beg sl st. Finish off.
LOOP FOR HANGING:
Leaving a 6î tail of yarn, with double strand of yarn,
ch 12. Finish off leaving 6 inches of yarn.
Using 6î ends, tie both ends of ìhookî to back of
head on top of first round (above center hole). Hook
should be positioned so that front of face is straight.
Weave in ends.
BUTTON:Take small shank button. Tie button to back of
head at bottom of rnd 1 (below center hole). Using a
piece of yarn. Tie button directly below loop. Weave in
ends.
Attach potholder to button on back of head.
