Free patterns for crocheted items in an aran design. Texture stitches, and sometimes cables, are used in these patterns, for experienced crocheters. Afghans, hats, scarves, sweaters and more.
If you're a beginner, you may want to practice crocheting a bit more before tackling aran design patterns but at the following link, you'll find easier free patterns that you can enjoy in the meantime:
I've searched through some blogs for recent posts relating to crocheting. I enjoyed these and I thought you might enjoy them too.
I've placed some of my own photos here and there just to add some color and keep it interesting. If you click on my photos, each one will take you to a different free crochet pattern page on my site (just for fun, I won't tell you what those pages are; I'll let it be a surprise).

Crocheting On The Plane -
Justine says that she was nervous while flying but crochet saved her, giving her something else to think about. Yay, crochet! She gives her directions for the hat that she crocheted on the plane.
A unique pattern using the star stitch. When I created this pattern, I used stripes of
alternating colors with star stitches forming a subtle diamond shape within the stripes.
I have another new original handbag design almost finished. But it needs a button.
I'm in the process of choosing. Hmmm ... which one to use?
I've already typed up my crochet pattern directions and just have to add photos of the finished bag, complete with the button that I end up choosing.
I'll add a link here to the new free pattern when I have it live on this site.
Update, added later: I decided to go with the plain round gold-colored button this time. The free pattern is live on my site now: Handbag With Dachshund Dog Design Free Pattern You can also make it without the dog added. It has a background with rows crocheted in one loop only to form a decorative ridge across each row. This creates a texture design which gives an interesting look to the bag, with or without the dog portion added.

This would be a wonderful edging for clothing. Picture it accenting the hem of a short summer crop top. It would also make a great accent sewn to guest towels or glued around the top edge of a wicker basket, just to name a few possible uses.

Iris Flower Filet Crochet Free Chart Coordinates With Rose Design
This Iris chart design is the same finished size as a coordinating Rose chart and a Thistle Flower chart, which would be beautiful as a wall grouping. All three free charts are available on this site.
In this pattern, a drawstring top made of rows of chain loops is used as a closure for the bag. A pretty loop and bar lace edging decorates the lower edge. Free Pattern:

Hearts With Lines Headband Free Pattern With Colors Crocheted In
On this version of the heart themes headband, I have crocheted the colors in on the front piece. In the example shown, I chose a black background with a bright multicolor yarn to simulate a stained glass look. You may prefer to use two solid colors instead (version one shows an example with two solid colors). Hearts With Lines Chart Page Free Pattern:

An example showing how to crochet a basic flat circle made with single crochet, with a solid center. This example uses the method of joining with a slip stitch at the end of each round (instead of continuous rounds). From crocheting this sample, you can learn about the increases used when crocheting in the round.
