'''The Department of Defense Reorganization Act of 1958''' is an American_law which was created to provide for more effective administration for the Department_of_Defense (DoD). Its goal was to streamline channels of authority in DoD, and still maintain the authority of the Military Departments. The Act moved decision-making authority from the Military Departments to the Joint_Chiefs_of_Staff and the Secretary_of_Defense. It also strengthened the command channel of the military over U.S. forces from the President to the Secretary of Defense. {{statute-stub}} Category:_1958_in_law Category:United_States_federal_legislation
