GOING APE: Two different DVD editions of Peter Jackson's epic retelling of King Kong hitting stores Mar. 28. One version's a single-disc version while the other is a lavish, two-disc special edition.

REVENGE IS SWEET: Star Wars: Episode III--Revenge of the Sith scoring 10 nominations to lead the competition at the 32nd Annual Saturn Awards, honoring best in science fiction, fantasy and horror films. On the tube side, Lost and Smallville snagging six nods a piece.

DOG RACE AT THE BOX OFFICE: Eight Below, a survival tale about abandoned sled dogs, beat the pack to the box office, grossing an estimated $25 million over the four-day holiday weekend. It edged out romantic comedy spoof Date Movie, which debuted in second place with $22.3 million.

BRITS VOTE BROKEBACK: Brokeback Mountain scooping up four BAFTA awards, Britain’s Oscar equivalent, on Sunday, including Best Film, Best Director for Ang Lee, Best Supporting Actor for Jake Gyllenhaal and Best Adapted Screenplay.

BIG WIN: Grbavica, first-time Bosnian filmmaker Jasmila Zbanic's drama about a rape victim from that country's war, winning the Golden Bear for best film Saturday at the 2006 Berlin International Film Festival.

CLEANING THE BIG HOUSE: A maid who stole valuables from celebrity clients including Robert De Niro and Candice Bergen sentenced to one to three years in prison Tuesday.

APPETITE FOR G N' R: Three studio-quality tracks from Guns N' Roses' long-delayed Chinese Democracy album leaked to the Internet. The news comes a few weeks after singer Axl Rose turned up at a Korn tour party in Los Angeles and told Rollingstone.com that "people will hear music this year."

PAPA IS A ROLLING STONE: Mick Jagger visited his Brazilian son Lucas at school on Monday in Sao Paulo, two days after the Rolling Stones gave a free concert at Copacabana Beach. The rock star's cameo caused so much commotion that his son left in tears with his mother.

DIVORCE COURT: Nick Lachey filing response to Jessica Simpson's divorce petition. Lachey contests the ex-couple's separation date; he says Dec. 13, she says Nov. 23. A judge will decide which date, which will determine value of their community property. He is asking for half.

STAYIN' ALIVE: Surviving members of the Bee Gees, Barry and Robin Gibb, reunited in Miami Saturday for the first time since their brother Maurice died to raise money for diabetes research, performing their hits including Stayin' Alive and How Deep Is Your Love.

DISSING THE DONALD: Martha Stewart claiming her Apprentice flopped because Donald Trump insisted on doing his own version of the show at the same time. "Having two Apprentices was as unfair to him as it was unfair to me," she told Newsweek. "But Donald really wanted to stay on."

MORE TIME IN 'NAM: British glam rocker Gary Glitter going on trial Mar. 2 in Vietnam on charges of committing obscene acts with two underage girls, the judge said Monday. The trial is expected to last two days and will be closed to the public.

GOING INDIE: Actress Naomi Watts serving as honorary chair for the 2006 Independent Spirit Awards being held Mar. 4 in Santa Monica, California.

ON THE TUBE: Per the Hollywood Reporter, Erika Christensen set to star in the ABC pilot Six Degrees, a soap following the interweaving stories of a group of strangers living in New York.

FOR A GOOD CAUSE: Celine Dion, Elton John and comedian Jerry Seinfeld performing a benefit at the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas and raising $2.1 million for some 8,000 casino workers living in the Gulf Coast region.

LENDING A HAND: While in Brazil this week on U2's Vertigo Tour, Bono donating one of his guitars to benefit Brazil's Zero Hunger campaign, which aims to ensure Brazilians have three meals a day before the end of this year.

CRITTERS' BEST FRIEND: Former Golden Girls star Betty White honored by the Los Angeles Zoo Monday for her work on behalf of animals with a bronze plaque placed next to the zoo's gorilla exhibit.

MOURNED: Actor Richard Bright, 68, who appeared in all three Godfather movies and on The Sopranos, was struck and killed by a bus in New York City on Saturday as he crossed the street in his neighborhood, police said. The driver told police he was not aware that he had hit anyone and no arrests have been made.

MOURNED: William Cowsill, lead singer of the 1960s family band The Cowsills, which inspired The Partridge Family TV series, has died. He was 58.
