Creed Cancels Tour After Crash

Here's one more setback the boys in Creed will have to weather: The multiplatinum rock group has canceled the rest of its North American tour after singer Scott Stapp was injured in a car crash.

According to a spokesman for the band's label, the frontman suffered back and neck injuries April 19 in Orlando when his car was hit by another vehicle going 60 mph.

"He has been advised by medical professionals to make this regrettable, but necessary decision as he recuperates," reads a statement on the band's Website.

According to an incident report filed by the Orlando Police Department, a Florida woman was cited by police for following too close, after her Ford SUV crashed into the rear of a Cadillac SUV driven by Stapp as they were heading westbound along Interstate 4 in Orlando.

The report states there were "no injuries noted" in the accident. But Creed spokesman Steve Karas says Stapp has since suffered neck and back pain that has prevented him from performing.

"Over the past week, Scott's been seeing specialists for injuries to his back and neck," Karas says. "Obviously, he's in a lot of pain."

Karas emphasized that "the band is not going to go out on the road if it's not 100 percent...and Scott is far, far from 100 percent. Otherwise, they would have been in Fargo Monday night."

The rockers have canceled the remaining 20 dates that were scheduled to begin Monday in Fargo, North Dakota, and run through May 31 in Selma, Texas. No make-up shows have been announced, but according to its Website, the band hopes to be back in fighting form to return to the road mid-summer.

Stapp, 28, and his bandmates have been on the road in support of their multiplatinum-selling disc Weathered, which debuted atop the charts last November.
