A Stacked Crib of Comics and Kids Turns the Family Sitcom on Its Head Full House took an oddball premise--three straight guys raising three girls in San Francisco--and ran with it for eight years. The show made household names of most of its stars and launched the franchise known as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The Olsen twins started out as two of the youngest child stars on television, and they now command a brand-name empire after their parents taught them the value of hard work and money. As Full House: The E! True Hollywood Story reveals, most of the castmembers were handpicked for their roles, and the result was ratings gold. Full House became the benchmark for wholesome family entertainment and cemented ABC as a leader in that category. But being a megahit had its drawbacks: Candace Cameron faced prejudice at school, while sometimes the kids were mobbed in public, and the adult actors sometimes found it difficult to shed their good-guy images when they wanted to branch out their careers and try edgier material. But despite all the tribulations, this is one E! True Hollywood Story that has multiple happy endings. The House is now empty, but its legacy lives on. But first, try your hand at our quiz and see how much you really know about the Tanner family.
