Third SARPCCO Games open in
Botswana
September 11, 2003 The third edition of the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Co-operation Organization (SARPCCO) Games began this week in Gabarone, Botswana. Participating in the games this year are law enforcement officers from Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Athletics, chess, darts, football, netball, and volleyball are on the schedule. The first two editions of the games were in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1999 and 2001. COSSASA Ball Games end in BotswanaSeptember 1, 2003 THE COSSASA Ball Games (Confederation of Schools Sports Association) for nations of South Africa were held recently in Rustenburg, South Africa August 29-31. Students from Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Zambia took part in basketball, football, netball and volleyball The team from Botswana won titles in both the boys and girls football and volleyball competitions and the boys basketball tournament. Several other nations are eligible to compete but did not participate (Angola, DR Congo, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.) COSSASA holds a separate COSSASA games for athletics. Botswana Preparing Volleyball team for African Games August 23, 2003 The Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) is busy preparing the national volleyball team to compete in the All-African Games in Nigeria, later this year. The national team is training at St
Joseph's College from 6- 8pm every week from Monday to Thursday. The BVF has also been conducting
volleyball coaching clinics for junior and senior secondary schools around
the country, and an international volleyball coaching clinic. |
