ASEM Games to open

June 1, 2005

The first ever ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) games are set to open in Bangkok tomorrow.

Thailand's, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra will open the games at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium.

The event was created to provide contact between youths 18 and under from Europe and Asia.

Twenty-seven countries, and over 800 athletes will compete in athletics, badminton, football, swimming, table tennis and tennis.
