4th Middle East/North Africa Special Olympics open

Tunis, Tunisia will welcome some 18 nations and 600 athletes for the 4th Special Olympics Middle East/North Africa Regional Games now scheduled for September 2-9.

The games will also include conferences and seminars about the role of integrating mentally handicapped individuals into society.

Sports in the games will be athletics, basketball, field hockey, football, swimming and table tennis.

Invited to Tunisia for the games are: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

Cairo hosted the first Special Olympics Middle East/North Africa Regional Games in 1999, Rabat Morocco the 2000 Games, and Beirut, Lebanon the 2004 Games.
