PHOENIX RISES: Joaquin Phoenix escaping serious injury after flipping his car while driving in Los Angeles Thursday, police and his publicist said. His rep says Phoenix's brakes went out and the Golden Globe-winning actor lost control of the car. He was not hospitalized. BEVERLY HILLS COURT, 90210: A former nurse suing Aaron Spelling for sexually harassing her during her tenure working for the TV titan, according to TMZ.com. Spelling filed a preemptive lawsuit against the woman, Charlene Richards, last year, accusing of her of defamation. SLY RETURNS? Per the Washington Post, Grammy organizers are looking to reunite Sly and the Family Stone for a tribute to the famed '70s band. Sly Stone last performed live 19 years ago. SICK BAY: Former Eight Is Enough patriarch Dick Van Patten recovering from a "slight stroke" according to Variety. The actor reportedly has problems with his left leg and arm but overall is "feeling great." NURSERY NEWS: Meg Ryan's publicist finally confirming that the 44-year-old actress has adopted a baby girl from China. Ryan, who has a 13-year-old son, Jack, with Dennis Quaid, is back in L.A. with the child. No further details have been released. SPECTOR UPDATE: In a deposition made public Friday, music producer Phil Spector said he was sober when he was arrested in the death of actress Lana Clarkson but confused because police had zapped him with stun-gun. IN THE SLAMMER: Troubled Babyshambles rocker Pete Doherty, the ex-beau of supermodel Kate Moss, pleading guilty Friday to heroin possession, after he was arrested the day before. He'll remain in jail until his next hearing on Feb. 8. STILL THE MAN: Tom Cruise topping a poll of movie exhibitors in the Quigley Publishing Co.'s annual survey of the top 10 moneymaking stars of 2005, thanks to his hit War of the Worlds.
