Looks like Courtney Love has dug herself a hole.

The rocker-actress was hospitalized for a possible drug overdose early Thursday morning after getting busted by Los Angeles police for allegedly trying to break into a friend's home, according to Los Angeles media reports.

The 39-year-old Love was arrested and booked for investigation of being under the influence of a controlled substance when officers, responding to a burglary call, found her standing in the middle of the street outside a home in the city's Wilshire area. Love fessed up to smashing four windows in an attempt to gain entry to the residence.

Officers then contacted the resident of the home, who stated he did not wish to have Love arrested for breaking the windows, the LAPD said Friday.

The former Hole frontwoman was taken into custody, booked and released at about 5:30 a.m., after posting $2,500 bail. The drug charge is a misdemeanor.

But her misadventure didn't end there.

Less than an hour later, police and paramedics in Beverly Hills responded to a 911 call at another home involving a woman under the influence of a narcotic. Law enforcement officials told the Los Angeles Times the woman was Love and said that she had overdosed.

The widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain was reportedly taken to nearby Century City Hospital where she received treatment. There is no word on her condition, but given that she was no longer at the hospital by Thursday afternoon, it sounds like she recovered.

Love's publicist could not be reached for comment.

Love has a history of abusing drugs, dating back to her April 1994 arrest at the Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel for another overdose. The musician was taken into custody but never charged. After that incident, she checked herself into rehab but had to cut it short after learning of Cobain's suicide.

More recently, the Smoking Gun linked her to Dr. Jules Lusman, the onetime Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon who was known as "Dr. Feelgood" for supplying illegal prescription painkilllers to celeb clients, including Winona Ryder. (California's Medical Board stripped Lusman of his license for writing the illegal scrips.)

Earlier this year, Love was arrested for allegedly verbally abusing flight attendants on a Virgin Atlantic flight from Los Angeles. The charges were eventually dropped.

Love hasn't released a studio album since Hole's 1998 swan song, Celebrity Skin. She has been trying to revive her music career, which hit the skids while she engaged in a legal battle to break her contract with her former label Universal Music Group, which she accused of enslaving artists and cheating them out of royalties.

She instead focused on acting--but after a Golden Globe-nominated breakthrough in 1996's The People vs. Larry Flynt, she has been in a string of mostly forgettable features, like last year's kidnap thriller stinker Trapped.

When last we heard from Love, she was in talks with new label Virgin Records to release her first solo album, America's Sweetheart, which she has been writing with ex-4 Non Blondes singer-songwriter Linda Perry. According to Billboard, the record was originally suppose to come out on October 28, but it was postponed until February 10 to give Love time to put the "finishing touches" on it.
