Live performance by The Kitchen Cynics (Alan Davidson)

Today, a rare visit from Scotland's Kitchen Cynics (aka Alan Davidson), notable for weaving dreamy threads of song. The ever-prolific Mr. Davidson's latest self-made disc is "Master of the Fuzzy Fadeout," laden with glorius echo-drenched guitars, floaty flutes and trad-folk finery. Alan's been playing out in the clubs at home near Aberdeen, and did a rare NYC gig at The Cake Shop with fellow folksters P.G. Six and Mike Wexler. Takling advantage of this trip, he made his 2nd appearance on WFMU's airwaves, debuting a few new songs as well.

Wendy and Nick

Psych-folk craftsman Nick Castro joined the mysterious B'eirth of In Gowan Ring for more than a few beautiful moments in music. Nick has just released a new album on Portland, OR's great Strange Attractors label. As a review the foxydigitalis.com website describes him: "Castro is a master craftsman. His songs flicker in the air like distant stars; they're subtle at first glance, but as you dig deeper, you realize how immense they really are." The reclusive B'eirth (who essentially is In Gowan Ring) joined Nick during this tour and he has a new album on the way titled, "Birch Book." It's been a while since Mr. B.'s last recorded output, which is always a unique synthesis of folk, medieval and psychedelia. Nick and B. traded off on each of their tunes.
