The Bang Records Sessions
In 1967, Van Morrison recorded a flurry of throw-away songs in a single recording session in New York City in order to meet his contractual obligation to Bang Records, with whom he was none too happy. The 31 improvised tracks, known as the Bang Records Sessions, range in length from 48 to 90 seconds and include such titles as "Blow in Your Nose," "Nose in Your Blow" and "I Want a Danish." All are just Morrison wailing and talking over an acoustic guitar.
The 38-minute session, which has appeared on compilations and bootlegs in the past, is now available in its entirety on the blog of wfmu.org, a New Jersey radio station.
