3.  How does the voucher system work?
Your voucher will contain a Voucher Number and a Voucher Password that allows access to a specific HMCo password-protected web site. You may or may not be asked to enter your Voucher Password, as sites that do not ask for a Voucher Password, do not require one. Additionally, some vouchers only contain a Voucher Number. If the site does require a Voucher Password, you are then required to login with this username/password each time you use the site. Depending on the web site, vouchers can be shrinkwrapped with the textbook or sold separately. Vouchers are good for 6 months or for 12 months.

8.  What's the difference between Blackboard and WebCT?
Blackboard and WebCT are the two primary providers of online course management systems. Although each has a different look and feel -- and the features of each vary somewhat -- they are basically the same type of system. They allow an instructor to create and manage an online course or an online supplement to a traditional course. Both companies provide a school with software that gets installed on the school's servers. Instructors then use that software to create course "shells." Initially, these shells are devoid of content - instructors put their own content into the shell or they can make use of publisher provided content. Blackboard provides another option for instructors interested in using online course management systems but who do not have (or do not choose to use) a course management system at their school. This service is free to instructors. More information on this service can be found at www.blackboard.com.

Similar to study guides, Course Cartridges (Blackboard) and WebCourselets (WebCT) are collections of course materials that professors can purchase and download into their online course. The Cartridges and WebCourselets include customizable quizzes, reviews, exercises, outlines, and summaries.

15.  What kind of equipment do I need to run your networked software?

Questions can be multiple-choice or true/false. Students also have the ability to e-mail quiz results to their professors.

17.  How do you ensure that students can't gain access to answers to the online testbanks?
