Morgan, Daniel

(1736-1802), general during the American Revolution. Morgan led the American force that achieved an important victory at the Battle of cowpens near the North Carolina-South Carolina border. Morgan later became commander of the Virginia militia sent to end the Whiskey Rebellion in Pennsylvania. Morgan, a Federalist, represented Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives (1797-99).
