Our Review: For better or worse, nobody will ever call Martin Scorsese concise. And now the cherished director tackles the life (mostly the good parts) of aviator, businessman and eventual mentally ill nut job Howard Hughes (Leonardo DiCaprio). It's a daunting task, but he's up to the challenge. The film's old-school look--coupled with current CGI--makes things soar, DiCaprio is inspiring, and supporting actors like Cate Blanchett (as Katharine Hepburn) upstage everything else onscreen. Things veer off course--for Hughes and the film--a bit in the end, but Scorsese wraps it up on a high note (even if he had to fudge the timeline to get there). Whatever, we'll take this over the bloated Gangs of New York any day.
