YES!! - December 20, 2005

Oh, happy day. Nothing's set in stone, but something is better than nothing.

Please bring it back! Or I'll club this baby seal.

Let me count the ways I love thee - December 20, 2005

Craigslist, I love you! Shall I compare thee to a summer day?

I can't begin to describe the joys of craigslist. For some of us, its cigarettes. For others, mmorpgs. For me, it's craigslist. I first started back in 2000, when I was working for IGS at Berkeley. My boss told me about craigslist once, and I used it to sell my G4 Cube when I first got my Camaro. Since then, I have bought and sold numerous things. I've even met a couple random chicks from it. And I've sure met some interesting people.

I started up craigslisting as a way to sustain my crazed gadget-whoring addiction...read more

some advice for my fellow man. - December 16, 2005

(warning - long read)

For the longest time, I've been wondering why women claim they want a 'nice' guy, but continue to date jerks. You can be the sensitive, caring guy they say they want, but you'll fall into the bottomless chasm known as the "friends zone". Why is this?

What I'm about to write here may be common sense to you, and if so, great. But there are some of us who don't quite understand this. I didn't - I had to learn the hard way. I can't quite say I understand it all, because I don't. But after so many cases, I can start correlating inputs to outputs. It starts to makes sense.

I got to thinking and reading about all this while looking over my movie collection, and having some pointers bestowed upon me by friends. I have a couple romance movies, and after watching them, I was disgusted. Because it was bullshit. Pure, steaming, corn-fed bullshit.

The guy always ends up making the girl...read more

Another Holiday Party well spent - December 05, 2005 11:24am

Well, I was sure I would have been canned by now, but I guess amazingly enough, this marks my 2nd holiday party here. Sweet.

The party was even better than last year's. This year's was held at San Francisco's Pier 48, and was themed as a global, international airline. We were able to "fly" between Brazil, Tokyo, London, Dublin, and India - each with their respective foods (which was some of the best food I've ever eaten), decor, music, and shows...read more

sleep paralysis! - November 21, 2005 11:39pm

Anyone else get these?

Sleep Paralysis is a condition where you wake up in the middle of deep sleep, and you're fully lucid and conscious, but, paralyzed.

I had my first sleep paralysis during senior year of high school. I woke up in the middle of the night, and I was lying on my stomach. I heard some voices behind me talking in a hushed voice, so I tried to get up to look. Couldn't move. It felt like someone was sitting on my back. My eyes were open, but I couldn't move to see what was on my back. For some reason, I couldn't help shaking the feeling that I was on the operating table. Maybe something happened while I was asleep...read more

Once upon a time in a college far, far away... - November 11, 2005

The college was U.C. Berkeley, and the year was 19-diggity-nine.

I was living in a craphole studio, and the only dish I knew how to cook was a maruchan cup 'o noodle. I tried living on cup 'o noodles my first semester. It didn't work. I ended up passing out a couple weeks later in the sproul financial aid building (how appropriate). But that's another story. The only way for me to realistically live, was to choke down Berkeley's processed grade-D cafeteria food. And I'm not joking about that - I worked for Rescomp back then, so I got to walk around in the underground tunnels underneath the DC. I saw all the boxes of food labelled "grade-D"...read more

You do something like this... and *completely* redeem yourself! - November 09, 2005 12:45am

Well, suck me sideways.

Today, I forced my sidekick to update to the new v2.3 operating system that is just being rolled out by t-mobile. And all is good. Very good.

I've been a Sidekick fanatic since day one. I had an old, black&white; sidekick back in late 2002. I liked them before they were cool, see. But they were plagued with quality problems, and slow, unuseable internet. Instant messaging worked...read more

wining and dining the enemy - November 07, 2005

You know you have a kickass company environment when even the employees of one of your biggest competitors are commiting theft just to sneak into google for a free lunch.

Just to tease those yahoo guys, I'm going to post today's main cafe menu. Neener neener! (Of course, there is still no such thing as a free lunch.. we bust our asses for this!)

edit: Ok, so I decided not to post up the menu. But if you really want to sample the food, talk to me and maybe I'll escort you in to try the food yourself. The usual gruel and water for lunch, of course.
