The weigh in, aka day of reckoning, after Thanksgiving is today.. I've been pretty good with my points, so hopefully I haven't gained weight.

Got a space heater last night and blew out my wing at work today. Fortunately, we know what fuse switch to play with to get everything working again. Oh well. We just have to take turns with our heater. Last night I went to Home Depot to get the same heater I had gotten earlier this week and apparenty everyone else had the same idea because they were all gone. I then went to Target and all their heaters except the $50+ ones were gone as well. Finally went to Savon with 5 minutes left and grabbed a $20 one. Yay for Savons, and Yay for late night shopping. Feels like I'm back in college where people are up at wee hours of the night and shops are still open.

Eyes burning from the dry air. Or maybe I'm getting Stucco poisoning from my ceiling.

Oh yeah forgot to mention, we saw Shannon Elizabeth at the Farmer's Market / Grove.

Yay.

Some of the image galleries will be offline for a bit until my hosting company gets back to me about upgrading our service to 250 megs (at this rate that should last us about 20 more years, hah!)

So there you go.

Whew. What a full weekend. I'm hoping this posts as we finally have hit the 50 meg mark on our account (any more space we want is gonna cost us a monthly fee, which is nominal so I'll get to it later.... one thing we're not giving up is our webspace).

Anyway there are new photos of the Los Angeles Farmer's Market and updated photos of Zet's apartment (pre and post moving in).

So much happened this weekend I am already forgetting, not enough space in my brain either. We went to Bodyworlds (repeat performance for me) on Saturday, I got a hot dog from the hot dog cart outside the USC stadium (there's a romance about getting a hot dog from a cart)... Bodyworlds was awesome as always, had some new exhibits I hadn't seen before, so yeah, it was truly amazing, even the second time around. Watched a horrible movie on DVD, ate lots of food...

I got new police gloves today too. I've been meaning to for, oh about 4 years since my other ones got wet and shrank. They're just very thin insulated gloves which are primarily used for frisking since they're pretty much puncture resistant (i.e. needles in suspect's pockets). They're warm, durable... ah I love em.

Next week I start volunteering at the soup kitchen... it's gonna be nice getting back into a kitchen and it's food for the soul to help out those in need. Lord knows I've gotten plenty of support in my down and out times, it's time for me to give some of it back.

----------------------------------------------
Had a great weekend which started out at Jamba Juice with a Pumpkin SMash!!! Oh those things are heaven. They're also 7 points so I had to have it as my meal. We (Andy and I) then headed off to Bodyworlds. It's somewhat of a surreal experience. At one level you know it's real tissue... after a plastation (sp?) process, but then it looks plastic and your mind just goes back and forth "it's real, it's not, it's real, it's not".. or maybe it's just me. Anyway, I wish they had this fresh out of bio2ap because I would know more of what was going on. I used to know alot about the heart, enough that at one point I wanted to become a cardiologist... but it was fascinating nonetheless. Every once in a while, as you walk around, you remember that all these bodies were donations... I've seen all the pictures in the bio books, but this was amazing. I highly recommend it.
Lets see... then we watched Asylum of the Dead or something... I dont remember what it was called, just remember it was a "XXX of the XXX" movie... it was quite humourous actually, but I thought it was alright. I'll just say it was entertaining. I love movies that take place in an asylum.

Today, we went to the Farmer's market. I hadn't gone there or the Grove before.. It was nice, kinda like a mall farmer's market... sorta... anyway, bought some pancake pumpkin mix, looked at all the produce... saw the girl from American Pie... then we went to Trader Joes and Andy helped me lug my groceries to my apartment.

Full weekend. Next weekend I pick up my washer dryer combo unit. Oh, this Thursday is a bellydance recital.. then the next class is not till January. I'll actually have a weeknight off to myself!! woah. That'll be nice :)

Supposedly JCAHO is here at the hospital this week. Should be interesting to see all the administrators on their toes. :>

November 26, 2004

Well let's see...

Didn't eat much yesterday, got crappy sleep (3rd night in a row :) First day after is interesting, second day is more interesting, third day is annoying, fourth day is miserable), CHiro, gym, went to work to get new paperwork for new health insurance and dental insurance.

Then some errands, some xmas shopping online, went out to get printer ribbon and on the way back I met JnB to get their 12 foot xmas tree. Quite a nice one. There was a newsvan there, we didn't get on TV (nor did we really want to)...

And now I get to relax and hopefully sleep heavily tonight :)

Zet's tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving:

----------------------------------------------
Already tired. We've been cooking for a couple days so far...

I'm sure I'll leave something out since I'm tired and forgetful, but we're having:

Turkey (Brined in a spicy cinnamon solution)
Stuffing (duh)
Twice Baked Yams/Sweet Potatoes
Green and Yellow Wax Beans with Hazelnut Oil
Garlic Crostinis (toasted bread slices) with Roasted Chestnut Butter (homemade chestnut butter rocks)
Mandarin Orange Salad with either White Balsamic Vinaigrette or Balsamic Honey Mustard (both homemade :) )
Oven-roasted Rosemary Baby Yukon Potatoes with poached Pearl Onions
Pumpkin Creme Brulee

I still have quite a bit of pumpkin-infused cream left over, so I may just make a crapload of pumpkin custard pies tomorrow or something. I dunno. I'm tired. And HUNGRY heh.

Gonna sleep well tonight with all that triptophan. Woohoo.

November 23, 2004

Yay! I'm connected!!! Whew what an ordeal! For two days I've been trying to install this stupid SBC global DSL disc and it's been one problem after another. At first it wouldn't "bind the TCP/IP" whatever the heck that means.. i spent two days installing and uninstalling drivers and stuff, till i realized couple hours ago that it had been defaulting to a modem that I wasn't even using. Once I took that out.. my rewritable CDROM stopped recognizing any disks... forcing me to use this really slow 24x CDROM... but finally it worked... let me also add that in the mess of me installing and uninstalling stuff I now have this error message that pops up:
"HP AiO Device Object Server
RegisterClassObjects failed: hRes=0x80004015
The class is configured to run as a security ID different from the caller.
Maximum retry attempts exceeded."

Whatever that means. I think i've screwed up my computer... oh well.
So now 2 days later, I have my internet working. What a mess.

On a good note, I lost another 1.6 lbs this week, coming to a total of 6.2 lbs in one month. It's not that much, but at the same time it's pretty good. Considering I've been drinking more water and still eating a pizza slice or gelato here and there... it's just a matter of budgeting my points.

Oh on another cool note, at work i realized that i forgot my PDA and right about when I was going to freak out (yes, i am a slave to my PDA, whatever), i remembered i'm only 15 mins away, so I drove home, had lunch at home and got back to work all in my lunch break. :)
woohoo!!!

So i will soon have Clown up at my place. I need a few more weeks of adjusting here and figuring out how to make it "cat safe" here. I hope clown will be happy here.

----------------------------------------------
Great news! I spoke with Human Resources at my employer, and basically, I have not been terminated (the FMLA doesn't require them to terminate, it just releases them of the need to hold my position, it's their discretion), they are holding my place/extending my leave until early January (which is when I'm sure I will be ready and able to get back to 10-12 hour workdays), new medical and dental plans which are supposedly better... So yeah. No mess, no fuss, no re-applying, no COBRA extensions, smooth sailing.

I really do work at a great place, it's good that I gave it my all for as long as I could. These past few months have reminded me just how fragile a human being really is, and kinda let me refocus on what's truly important (myself), not my job.

Score one for the home team.

----------------------------------------------
Badass.

I've had this universal remote which I think I originally got for JnB, but they never ever used it.. whatever, they can have their multiple remotes. So I have finally gotten off my ass and have programmed all 4 (DVR, DVD, Cable, TiVo (yup, it's supported!) ) of my remotes into it. And it's a learning remote so any odd features which aren't pre-programmed into the remote's memory can be learned by the remote.

Ahhh so nice. Consolidation rocks.

November 22, 2004

Yay!!! I'm in my new place. THis morning it took me a whopping 15 minutes to get to work!!! I slept in an hour later, got to eat breakfast in peace (somewhat rushing, but hey, i slept in an hour later)... and here I am.. well rested. The loft bed is somewhat scary... last night i started freaking myself out thinking about what i was gonna do if there was an earthquake.. but whatever.. what can you do, right?... either way, i sleep soundly up there... the middle of my floor is empty. nice large space where i can do cartwheels. I organized all my books and have a large box of stuff i'm going to donate to goodwill. my desk and stereo is all set up and I'm just waiting to pick up my dsl to start surfing the web!

last night was the first night alone... it was very sweet of andy to stay over the first night in the apartment because I was getting real anxious... especially from watching a "scary" movie, which really wasn't that scary, but it put me in this creep out mood. last night being alone, i kept hearing different noises here and there... then i heard my refridgerator go off... heh.. that's a sound i haven't heard at night since living in my tiny apt in Long Beach...

went through a bunch of old "memory books" last night.. (andy, there's a funny story and poem I wrote in high school that i want you to read!!)

So I'm still adjusting to the new place... i think it'll take me a while to adjust... i'm a slow to change...
