Viewing Web Pages in Russian fonts

In order to read Russian texts with Cyrillic characters you need to use Russian fonts.

The easiest way to learn to use them on Windows machines is to follow the detailed instructions at http://www.siber.com/sib/russify/ms-windows/cwww_eng.html.

The site includes instructions for other operating systems as well.

Multilingual Western fonts for Windows 95 can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/typography/multilang/default.htm as well as links to Internet Explorer Russian fonts.

A set of PC Code 1251 fonts (as well as the other standard, K0I8R) is included in this file, ForWWW.zip, which you may download now. Extract them, use the Control Panel Fonts program to Add (Install) them. In your browser, set the Proportional (Variable in Netscape 4) font as ER Bukinist 1251 and Fixed font as ER Kurier 1251. Reload the page and it should display in Cyrillic properly.
