Goofs for
"Thunderbirds" (1964)

  • Crew or equipment visible: In one of the first scenes of the episode "Attack of the Alligators!", a reflection of the camera and camera operator can be seen on the window of the laboratory.

  • Revealing mistakes: In five episodes, there are newspapers with the date Friday, 24 December 1964 on the front cover, and was clearly not intended to be seen by viewers. (Oddly enough, 24 December 1964 was a Thursday).

  • Errors in geography: In the episode "City of Fire", the Thompson Tower is situated in the United States. However, a sign on the wall uses the spelling "Control Centre" instead of "Center".

  • Continuity: In "Move - And You're Dead" Jeff is is sitting behind his desk when he is first contacted by Alan but in a subsequent shot he is perched on the front of the desk reading a magazine.

  • Continuity: In "The Perils of Penelope", the leading car of the Anderbad Express monotrain keeps changing colour, from white and red to silver and blue as it heads towards Lady Penelope - this was because the episode reused stock footage of the monotrain from "Brink Of Disaster", which was of a different color.

  • Continuity: In the episode "Trapped In The Sky", several shots from beneath Thunderbird 1, seen while the Hood takes photographs of the aircraft, the vehicle's markings show the "T" of Thunderbird painted on the red nose cone. All other shots of the craft show the nose cone free of markings.

  • Continuity: At the end of "Trapped In The Sky", a doctor visits Tracy Island to examine Kyrano, and "Operation Cover-up" disguises all evidence of the International Rescue organization in the lunge, with the portraits of the brothers in uniform replaced by pictures of them in civilian clothing. But when the doctor enters the room, the in-uniform portraits are still clearly visible in shots of Scott, Gordon and Jeff.

  • Continuity: In "Sun Probe", a diagram of the Sun Probe from a TV report shows the solarnaut's control cabin within the Probe Module. But we later see that the control cabin is within the body of the Probe Rocket when the Module is fired into the solar prominence.

  • Continuity: In the episode "Sun Probe", when Alan, Tin-Tin and Scott set off for Thunderbird 3 on the sofa, Alan is on the left, with Tin-Tin between him and Scott. As the sofa descends into the launch bay and ferries the trio to Thunderbird 3, Alan and Scott have swapped positions, but by the time the sofa arrives on board the spacecraft they are in their original positions again.

  • Continuity: In the episode "Operation Crash-Dive" while Gordon searches for the Fireflash on the sea bed, the parting in his hair keeps changing sides.

  • Continuity: In the episode "Operation Crash-Dive" when Gordon returns to Thunderbird 4 after making contact with the trapped crew, the configuration of the puppet-sized Thunderbird 4 doesn't match the model seen in long-shot.

  • Revealing mistakes: In the episode "Brink of Disaster", just as the villians' car goes out of control in the opening sequence, a huge lump of greenery falls out of the sky in the background. Later, when Selsden and Malloy try to open Lady Penelope's safe, Malloy's torch begins to smoke - the torch bulb has become so hot, it has started to set the prop alight.

  • Errors in geography: In the episode "30 Minutes After Noon", on the night of the Hudson Building fire, the Auto Date Fixer in Commissioner Garfield's office reads 12/7/65. The next day, it reads 13/7/65, illustrating attention to detail on the part of the set decorator. Unfortunately, the American convention is for the month numeral to appear first: either the first date should rea 7/12/65 (12 July) with the next day as 7/13/65, or the second date should read 12/8/65 (8 December).

  • Plot holes: In the episode "Atlantic Inferno", Lady Penelope's sheep-counting meter is useless to her as it counts to only five digits. She would need six for her 200,007 sheep.

  • Factual errors: In the episode "Give or Take a Million", Tin-Tin tears off a calendar which shows the date as 2026. All the calendars in this episode indicate that Christmas day falls on a Sunday (see the Trivia section for more details), but 25 December 2026 will be a Friday.

  • Continuity: In the episode "Give or Take a Million", it is supposed to be the middle of the night when Virgil sets off in Thunderbird 2 for Coralville Hospital, but the Thunderbird 2 launch takes place in full daylight (the regular Thunderbird 2 launch sequence being used in this case).

  • Factual errors: In the episode "The Man from M.I.5", Bondson and his colleagues are working in the south of France. However, M.I.5 is an internal security organization, while M.I.6 deals with external affairs.

  • Continuity: In "Vault of Death" Alan and Virgil are initially riding blue and red hoverbikes respectively along the disused London Underground tunnels. In the next shot, they have swapped bikes, but when they arrive at the Bank they have swapped back again.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: At the launch of Sun Probe, in the episode of the same name, Colonel Benson is voiced by David Graham but is then voiced by Ray Barrett when he appears on television.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In "Edge of Impact" Tim Casey is a colonel, but Scott refers to him as 'General' in one scene.

  • Errors in geography: In "Atlantic Inferno", it's nighttime on Tracy Island, allegedly in the South Pacific and on the Seascape oil rig in the North Atlantic.

  • Continuity: In "Day of Disaster" when Thunderbird 2 is selecting the pod, it is clear that Pod 4 is being selected. When we see Thunderbird 2 moving out of the hanger Pod 2 is next to it indicating Pod 3 had been chosen. This goof is also seen in the episodes "Sun Probe", "Vault of Death", "Move - And You're Dead", "Martian Invasion" and "The Perils of Penelope". This is because footage of the TB2 launch from the first episode ("Trapped In The Sky") has been used in the abovementioned episodes.

  • Continuity: In "Attack of the Alligators!", the pattern of the alligator's tail in close-up doesn't match with the pattern of the alligator in mid- to long-shot. (A model of the alligator's tail was used for close-ups.)

  • Continuity: In the episode "Cry Wolf", all of the characters refer to Williams's tracking station as Dunsley Tracker, but a caption on an alert signal reads "Densley Tracker".

  • Revealing mistakes: At the end of the episode "Pit of Peril", when the Mole returns to the surface with Scott and Virgil aborard, dust and sand can be seen pouring up from the ground on to the Mole's tracks - footage of the Mole tunnelling into the ground has simply been reversed.
