In Theaters Opening this week in New York and Los Angeles is House of Flying Daggers, director Zhang Yimou's second foray into wuxia after last year's Oscar-nominated Hero. Set during the Tang Dynasty, the film follows two deputies, Jin (Takeshi Kaneshiro) and Leo (Andy Lau), who are assigned to find and destroy the secret rebel group called the House of Flying Daggers. When the deputies hear that one of the dancers at a local brothel may be a member of the group, they determine that the blind dancer Mei (Ziyi Zhang) may be the person they're looking for, and they create a plan for Jin to deliver her back to the secret society, and to infiltrate the group by doing so. As Jin and Mei travel toward the north, unexpected enemies are fought and surprising secrets are revealed, and they fall deeply in love -- a love they finally embrace, even though they know it may have dangerous and even tragic consequences.        Read more about House of Flying Daggers.        Find showtimes here. Grand Theft Parsons directed by David Caffrey Now available on DVD is Grand Theft Parsons, a comedy partially based on the bizarre yet true events that occurred after legendary musician Gram Parsons died at the Joshua Tree Inn in 1973, in the high desert east of Los Angeles. The story focuses mainly on Phil Kaufman (Johnny Knoxville), Parsons' road manager and friend who, in accordance with a pact they made a few months before Gram's death, must steal Parsons' body and drive it to one of his favorite places in Joshua Tree National Park and light it ablaze. Kaufman needs help to pull off the plan, and enlists the aid of Larry Oster-Berg (Michael Shannon), a hippy friend who just happens to own a hearse. Pursued by both Parsons' estranged father (Robert Forster) and his conniving girlfriend (Christina Applegate), each wanting the body so that they can claim the singer's fortune, Kaufman and Oster-Berg make their way to Los Angeles and back to the desert, bumbling their way through silly mistakes and close escapes all in an effort to honor one final request for their friend.
