ABC 15 Bio: Ann Stephens
Ann Stephens wakes up very early to bring you the news on ABC 15 Daybreak at 4:30 am. But waking up early is old habit for Ann. The youngest of five, Ann had to wake up early to enjoy quiet time around the house. Ann grew up in Florida, and graduated from the University of South Florida.
Her first job in television was in Nebraska. There, she did it all. From anchoring and reporting to producing and weather casting. It didn't take long for Ann to realize she and the cold weather didn't mix. After one winter, Ann traded in her snow shoes for shorts and moved back to the sunshine state. She worked for a cable station near Orlando as an anchor and reporter. A year later, Ann moved to Myrtle Beach, SC where she spent two years anchoring the weekend news for the ABC affiliate.
Ann's next move was out west. She spent a short time anchoring for the Fox affiliate in Las Vegas, and then made the move to the valley.
From Hurricane Floyd to Florida's Wildfires, Ann has covered hundreds of stories during her career in broadcasting. The most memorable was when she traded in her pad and pen to train with a South Carolina SWAT team. From sniper shooting to throwing concussion grenades - Ann experienced first hand what it takes to be the best of the best in the police world.
During her spare time, Ann enjoys working out, spending time outdoors with her husband, and playing with her two pomeranian pups.
