(December 13, 2004) Aspyr Media has released Game Agent, a free Mac utility that analyzes your Apple computer's system and matches it with Aspyr games that have compatible system requirements. Game Agent requires OS X and an Internet connection to connect to Aspyr's database. Available games will be organized by New Releases, Coming Soon or All Games, and Game Agent provides thumbnails of the box art, descriptions, Web links to more info or to Amazon.com to buy or preorder the game. Also, for each title, Game Agent indicates whether the game "will not run," "will run" or "will run well." If you want to check the results for other Mac systems, a menu lets you choose from more than a dozen current or recently released Apple computers. Go to www.aspyr.com/games.php/mac/aga to for more information and to download Game Agent.

(December 10, 2004) Mac-using fans of magnetic “fridge poetry” collections will never miss the opportunity to bust a rhyme with Mariner Software’s new Desktop Poet 1.0, announced today for OS 10.2 and higher. The program places hundreds of words randomly on the desktop in a white, rectangular shape reminiscent of the popular refrigerator magnets. Wordsmiths can then arrange the words into poetry or any imaginative prose that can be good for some quick inspiration or brainstorming. A full-featured trial version is available at www.marinersoftware.com, or the shipping version sells for $20. Desktop Poet 1.0 is available currently in English only, but Mariner plans to support other languages in the future.
