Sudanese military planes bombed civilian and humanitarian targets in
southern Sudan at least 152 times during 2000, according to a
compilation by the U.S. Committee for Refugees of bombing reports filed
by humanitarian workers in the field. That is an average of nearly
three bombings each week. Eight additional bombings have occurred
during the first three weeks of 2001.
