More About Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington's filmography is already filled with impressive titles, such as The Human Stain, She Hate Me, and her upcoming role as Della Bea Robinson in Ray. Her reps used IMDb Publicity Photo Services to make sure that her gallery images were just as full, and, more importantly, that they could take control of the image set to appear on her main page. Even for an actress as established and credentialed as Washington, the value of using IMDb Publicity Photo Services is evident. That way, when our users (20 million a month and counting) are trying to place her, or industry folks are looking to cast their films--and turn to Washington's page--they won't be left trying to put a name to a face; they'll immediately make the connection. If you're in the database, make sure your page stands out with IMDb Publicity Photo Services!
IMDb Movie of the Day
A group of actors make their way through the busy streets of New York to the run-down, nearly falling apart New Amsterdam Theater, where they congregate with cups of coffee, chatting about what they've been up to for the past few days. A few observers have been invited along, and are informed that this group has been meeting off and on for about five years or so, workshopping an adaptation of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya. Wallace Shawn, who plays Vanya, stretches out on a bench for an apparent nap, while two other actors sit down and begin catching up. Shawn soon revives himself and joins them, as the unobtrusive camera slowly moves behind them to reveal a small audience of ten or so people — the play has already started. So begins the magic journey of Louis Malle's Vanya on 42nd Street, a transcendent film adaptation of one of modern theater's most famous plays. With no scenery, minimal props, and the noises of modern New York occasionally interrupting, these actors brings Chekhov's 1896 Russian drama to vibrant life, and Malle's camera catches their every nuance and breath, as theater and film deftly collide in ways rarely seen. Of the cast, it's Julianne Moore who shines most brightly as the tortured Yelena, a woman who expresses her misery and unhappiness with the biggest of smiles and a merry laugh. And Brooke Smith (known mainly as the anguished hostage in The Silence of the Lambs) is a poignantly sad Sonya, the young woman destined for a life of hard work and little love, who at the end of the play gives voice to Chekhov's words of perpetual hope. - Mark Englehart
