NEW WEBSITE DESIGN at May 15, 2004 07:02:01
We hope you enjoy the new MicroTactix website design! We've tried to make the website more attractive as well as easier to use. All of the product areas link directly to the individual product pages on RPGNow, so you can find what you want and order quickly. The new site should also load a bit faster. We've added a few new features as well, such as the easy-to-browse Catalog page and essays by our resident mascot, MicroTactix Max. There may still be a few older links about, so if you find something not working, drop a note to webmaster@microtactix.com!

Pictures and Review: Strongholds and Siege Engines at Jan 17, 2004 09:02:40
We had to call your attention to this review of Dirt Cheep Strongholds and Siege Engines by Colin D. Speirs. Of course, we're pleased that Colin liked the products enough to review us (and so favorably, too), but we also wanted you to see all the great photographs he's done of the components he built. Colin's observation in the review thatb these models are harder to build than some of our previous releases is absolutely correct. This set may not be for younger modellers. Releasing something a notch above the usual difficulty level was something of an experiment, but we're pleased that the reactions to these items has been so favorable. The results are sure worth it, as you can see from Colin's photos. Thanks to Colin for the kind words and great pictures, to RPGNet for always being a great site, and to Chris Nason for tipping us off about the review, which I'd managed to miss seeing until he pointed it out.

Dirt Cheep Strongholds and Siege Engines at Sep 21, 2003 05:03:52
Now, new MicroTactix Dirt Cheep Strongholds™ Basic Set and Siege Engines Expansion Set do for earthworks defenses what Dirt Cheep Keeps™ did for stoneworks! For centuries, wood and earthworks fortifications and strongholds have been used to defend against attack -- from ancient times up through the First World War and beyond. Now artist Gary M. Williams, MicroTactix Master of Cardstock Construction, brings you a modular set of earthworks that you will be proud to display on your gaming table. They're big, beautiful, easy to assemble -- and still, of course, Dirt Cheep!

Print them yourself from easy-to-use PDF files on almost any color inkjet printer and have incredibly detailed and lifelike constructions for a tiny price. They're sturdy enough for your heavy metal miniatures, light enough to store and cart around easily, and cheap enough that you can make all you want without denting your budget.

Like our other Dirt Cheep modular construction sets (Dirt Cheep Dungeons™, Dirt Cheep Caverns™, etc.), Dirt Cheep Strongholds is composed of easy-to-construct basic segments that can be put together in a nearly-infinite number of ways. You can make your defenses as big and complex as you can imagine, for pennies.

Get a hint of the attractiveness of these models with the FREE Dirt Cheep Strongholds Field Smithy. The field smithy features a small smith's forge building, accessories, figures, and a sample fir tree from our friends at Penguin Labs (www.penguinlabs.com).

The Dirt Cheep Strongholds Basic Set is a complete modular package for producing earthworks defenses of any size and complexity. The set includes modular earthworks wall and corner units to build defenses as big as you can imagine, and gates to allow (or deny) access inside. Archer shields, gabions, and chevaux-de-frise provide further protection. Lookout towers give your lookouts and archers a bird's-eye-view of the enemy. Finally, there's the massive wooden stronghold building itself, one of the most impressive constructions we've offered yet! You get all of this in the Basic Set for only $8.00.

Once you have defenses, you need something with which to defeat them! The Dirt Cheep Strongholds Siege Engines Set contains everything you could want to break a defender's walls (and spirit). During the siege, your archers and other attackers hide behind modular earthen mounds, and gather in their tents to plot strategy. The balistas and catapults work hard to soften up the enemy with massive destructive force. Your battering ram brings down his gates while the siege towers bring your soldiers over his walls. Also included is a whole new set of cardstock standup troopers by artist Kelly Hamilton. You'll be proud to use these great-looking figures to mount -- or break -- your own siege efforts. The siege engines are great for use in assaulting (or defending) the walls of our Dirt Cheep Keeps stoneworks, too! Get it all for only $6.00.

Use Dirt Cheep Strongholds with any miniature figures in the 25 -30mm range. Combine them with our Dirt Cheep Keeps stoneworks, and Vyllage-on-the-Cheep™ Castle Ruins, Ancient Ruins, and other building sets for even more possibilities -- it's all designed to work together! Check out the photos and see how Dirt Cheep Strongholds can enhance your miniatures games or roleplaying sessions without burning up your gaming budget! Like all MicroTactix products, you can purchase these for immediate download at RPGnow.com!

TWILIGHT STREET 2 at Jul 6, 2003 06:07:34
We were frankly astounded at the positive reaction to TWILIGHT STREET, so designer Gary Williams decided to turn out a followup. TWILIGHT STREET 2 is a second set of six buildings for gritty modern urban settings, based partly on suggestions made by early purchasers of the first set. Especially notable is the very cool tenement apartment building, which can be built either as an active classic building or -- with optional parts included in the set -- as a wreck suitable for demolition. You'll want to build a LOT of these and line 'em up to make whole neighborhoods! Now available via our purchase pages at www.rpgnow.com!

Fortune's Colony dice game ! at Jun 20, 2003 06:35:17
The second MicroTactix Impulse release is this fast and fun game of space colonization by P.D. Magnus. As soon as we saw it, we knew it HAD to be part of this new line of Print-'n'-Play games!

In Fortune's Colony you toss unique cardstock dice onto a planetary system target to create and supply your space colonies. The game combines dice-tossing skill and strategic thinking (and the wokings of Fortune, of course) as you struggle to set up planetary and orbital colonies, and keep them supplied and thriving. Fortune's Colony is simple enough for children, but engaging enough for even veteran strategy gamers.

Fortune favors the brave... and there's none braver than the intrepid colonists who risk everything to secure the resources your civilization needs to survive, But you have to be sure you can supply their needs as well, or it's bye-bye colony!

Fortune's Colony comes with four complete sets of easy-to-assemble cardstock colony dice, and it is the dice that gives the game a very different look-and feel. You also get a planet target display and rules -- all as downloadable PDF files!

And like our first release, Stock Car Saturday Night, Fortune's Colony comes with it's own paperback-sized full-color slipcase storage box you print and assemble to hold the game components, allowing you to display and transport your game after it is printed! Be sure to collect and play the whole series of Impulse Print-'n-Play games! At $5.00 each, you can't go wrong!

Mea maxima culpa! at Jun 9, 2003 06:55:39
I goofed, big time.

"Night City" is a trademark of R. Talsorian Games (www.talsorian.com), a company full of really nice people who are owed one swift kick at my backside because we accidentally stepped on their trademark for the default game setting for that classic RPG, Cyberpunk 2020. I shoulda known better. My fault.

I've sent profuse apologies to my old friend Mike Pondsmith (who was VERY understanding). Nerverthless, the product needs a new name, so "the product line formerly known as Night City" will henceforth be called "Twilight Street".

While you're at it, though, CLICK HERE to check out the great stuff R. Talsorian has to offer at their website! One of the great RPG companies of all time is STILL cranking out fine products -- ones you should see!

B&W; Armies Gone? at Jun 8, 2003 02:47:12
No, your eyes aren't playing tricks. The B&W; fantasy and science fiction Army Packs on the Budget Battlefield pages are gone (and they will soon be gone at RPGNow, too). We already have COLOR versions of all the SF packs for sale. As for the fantasy packs... you'll have to wait a week or two to see... (Heh-heh-heh...)

Twilight Street modern urban environment at Jun 8, 2003 01:49:49
MicroTactix brought you into the modern era first with the original Cheepsville USA? -- the first downloadable urban environment scenics. Next, the best-selling Dirt Cheep Cityscapes? made available an inexpensive and incredibly expandable city environment for role playing and miniatures. But you told us something was still missing for your modern-era gaming. "Give us buildings and modern urban scenics for some really down-and-dirty action!" Artist Gary M. Williams listened, and has created the tough and edgy sort of environment you begged for -- Twilight Street?.

Twilight Street answers the requests of hundreds of MicroTactix fans for a full color urban setting set that reflects a tougher sort of play style. This is The City's seamier side, where the skyscrapers of chrome and steel give way to the chipped concrete and discolored brick of the hard-core urban jungle. Gary Williams captures the edge and excitement of urban adventure with this new set.

It all starts with six new building designs, running the gamut from a simple storefront or corner bar to multi-story structures for hotels and seedy office buildings. All have been created in full color and with the kind of incredible artistic detail that made our top of the line fantasy environment, Vyllage-on-the-Cheep?, the fastest selling fantasy structure set in the industry. Each building can be easily redecorated, if you choose, in a variety of ways to fill your gaming table!

But Twilight Street doesn't stop there! Also included is a complete set of modular tiles for creating the streets and city blocks and sidewalks themselves in standard 1 inch square grid -- plus all the little scenic extras from medians, street lights and road signs to potholes, phone booths and construction areas! When you're done, you'll have a full environment for your modern minis (or our own 21st Century Heroes? modern-era color cardstock figures). If you prefer a 1 1/2 inch grid for large base or click base minis, use Twilight Street with the Dirt Cheep Cityscapes City Blocks streets instead! (The buildings even come with special 1 1/2" grid inserts for all the roofs!)

Visit the Twilight Street headquarters at http://www.microtactix.com/site/ncmain.shtml and sample Twilight Street for free with our BONUS building, "Drake's Radio & TV". Then, get the entire full-color Twilight Street Basic Urban Environment Set -- buildings, streets, scenics and more -- for only $20!

Twilight Street comes as PDF files that can be printed to any printer. Make as many buildings as you choose! Scaled to popular 25 to 28mm miniature figures (or MicroTactix cardstock standup counters), these buildings can easily be reduced during printing to 15mm or N scale, too. Get Twilight Street and all MicroTactix products at our webstore or at www.RPGNow.com!

Fans of urban fantasy, superhero action, and tough city-combat games now can all have a great time mixing and matching all of our modern-era product lines to build enormous environments for play. It's so cool, you won't believe it's cardstock! See you on Twilight Street tonight!

Dirt Cheep Keeps Accessory Pack at Mar 22, 2003 06:00:39
MicroTactix Games' Dirt Cheep Keeps lets you build realistic full color stonework walls, gates, towers, and keeps of any size in inexpensive cardstock -- but just walls may not be enough! Defenders need a garrison to hold those walls safe, and a place for that garrison to sleep, arm themselves, and prepare for a siege! Now, you'll be ready with the new Dirt Cheep Keeps Accessory Pack, available now!

The Accessory Pack comes with a complete garrison of full-color cardstock figures for troops and officers by fantasy artist Dominic Hamer -- enough to make any enemy think twice about trying to take your castle. After all, you can print as many as you want! You get archers, gate guards, crossbowmen, halberdiers, commanders and more. And, since you have to have somewhere to put those troops, the set also comes with tents, a barracks, an officers building, and a stable -- plus an assortment of other accessories. The buildings are styled to match the Dirt Cheep Keeps Basic Set of walls and towers, but can also be used alone for any sort of medieval-style military camp.

Both the Dirt Cheep Keeps Basic Set and the new Accessory Pack are composed of easy-to-construct basic segments in downloadable PDF format that can be printed and put together in a nearly-infinite number of ways. Build anything from a small city gate to a massive castle courtyard with the inexpensive Dirt Cheep Keeps Basic Set for only $8.00 US, and use the Accessory Pack to enhance that with everything you need to fill your keeps with defenders and their support structures for only $5.00 US.

Use Dirt Cheep Keeps with any miniature figures in the 25 -30mm range. Combine with the Vyllage-on-the-Cheep™ Castle Ruins, Ancient Ruins, and other building sets for even more possibilities -- it's all designed to work together! Dirt Cheep Keeps can enhance your miniatures games or roleplaying sessions without burning up your gaming budget. They're easy and versatile and beautiful -- and Dirt Cheep!
