While the spell cures 3d8 hit points of damage + 1 point per caster level (up to +15), the same as Cure Critical Wounds, it spreads out the healing over 3 or 4 rounds as determined by the caster. Once the number of rounds are determined, it cannot be altered. Since undead are powered by negative energy, this spell deals damage to them instead of curing their wounds. An undead creature can attempt a Will save to take half damage for each round the spell is active.
